We have a lot of great stuff planned, including some incredible speakers (which we will be announcing soon), some fantastic sponsors, and a lot of fun! Over the next few weeks, we’ll be releasing specifics on speakers, sessions, schedule, and more, but for the time being, I can tell you you’re not going to want to miss this!

WordCamp Scranton is being held July 18th from 9am – 5pm at Johnson College and tickets are just $20! Get yours today!

Sponsors are integral to help power our event here in the Electric City! With this being Scranton’s first WordCamp, sponsors have an opportunity to invest in Scranton’s growing WordPress community early and really make an impact.

At a low ticket price ($20), WordCamps are accessible to everyone from students and freelancers to small and enterprise businesses. Anyone who wants to attend can attend.

We have worked out several different Sponsorship Levels to ensure anyone who wants to support the community can do so. We have also put together a slide deck with more information. Download it here.

The Fine Print

WordCamp Scranton is backed by the WordPress Foundation (a US 501(c)3 non-profit) as their legal (and usually financial) entity, and because of that, there are some legal and organization expectations. They are outlined in full here.

WordCamp Scranton also has a Code of Conduct that all Sponsors, Speakers, and Attendees are expected to follow.

We are currently looking for speakers!  If you’re interested in sharing what you know about WordPress, fill out the form below. We’re looking for everything from beginner talks (How to Set up a WordPress site) to advanced talks (You, Me, and the WordPress API make Three).

We will be making our decisions around the middle of June, so applications will be accepted until June 5th.

It’s Official! WordCamp Scranton is July 18th!

After a few months of initial planning and venue hunting, we are happy announce that WordCamp is coming to Scranton, PA on July 18th! It will be held at Johnson College and we could not be more excited!

What is WordCamp?

WordCamp is a conference that focuses on everything WordPress.

WordCamps are informal, community-organized events that are put together by WordPress users like you. Everyone from casual users to core developers participate, share ideas, and get to know each other. (src).

We will have WordPress-focused talks, sponsors, networking events, swag, and an after party! It’s going to be a great weekend!

We Need You!

Right now, we are getting all of our ducks in a row regarding this website and the important details, and we need your help! We are currently looking for people to fill three very important roles:

  • Sponsors: Sponsors will donate money or in-kind services to the event. We are working on a Sponsor slide deck now to get you the important details regarding audience and reach. Please get in touch if you’re interested! As an added bonus, WordCamps are run by the WordPress Foundation, a non-profit organization 🙂
  • Speakers: Interested in sharing what you know? We are looking for talks that range from beginner (how to set up a WordPress site) to advanced (You, Me, and the WordPress API make Three). Submit an application here!
  • Volunteers: Not sure about speaking or sponsoring, but still want to help out? No problem! We need volunteers to help get the word out as well as help run the event the day of. Sign up here…and Thank you!
